Can anyone refresh my memory as to good hotspots for finding nobles and other npcs to escort? It's been so long that I know I'm forgetting most of the good spots.

How many active players so far?

Just curious, since I played for several hours last night and didn't see anyone else. I did hear someone practicing music, though I didn't actually see them. There do appear to be several houses up already.

  Gm Fishing
Posted by: Creager - 10-17-2014, 07:45 PM - Forum: Guides - Replies (5)

Starting out on a new server is/can be a rough experience...I thought to myself what can I do other thankill liches for the next two days to aquire currency for a new house, or macro a mage to gm with little risk of dieing?

With Fishing you can gather fish, magical fish(increases stats), lvl 1 tmaps, and message in a bottle (MIB).

Getting Started:

  • Character with 50 fishing or 30(personal preference).
  • If you decided to start a character with other stats you are going to need a fishing pole which can be purchasedat the docks from the vendor.
  • Purchase a boat from the provisioners shop southwest of the starting zone in Brittania for around 10k gold.
  • I highly suggest having a melee character to support your fisherman as the deep sea can be pretty nasty at points in time.

Suggested Character Template:

  • Stats-100 Strength 100 Dexterity 25 Intellect
  • Archery
  • Healing
  • Tactics
  • Anatomy
  • Hiding
  • Fishing (obviously)
  • Magery- so you can recall around and fish up the SoS's faster.

I would only suggest macroing the above if you are a hardcore fisherman and do not want any support from another character.

Razor Macro:

What do I do with all that crap?

Posted above is a razor macro written in script formation....

Before we get into copy and pasting this into razor and all that jazz, you are going to need to make sure your C drive has hidden files viewable.

Now copy and paste the macro into notepad and save it exactly like this "Fishing.macro"in Computer>Local C>Users>yourcomputersname>appdata>roaming>razor>macros.

Now you have an awesome macro to gm fishing with!

Pre GM Fishing Loot:

  • Fish lots and lots of fish
  • Magical fish
  • Hats
  • A ton of footwear possibly enough to put shoes on every kid in a 3rd world country.

Gm Fishing Loot:

  • Mibs
  • 1v1 one tmaps
  • More fish
  • Magical fish
  • Not near as much but still footwear

Mib Loot Explained:

Ok so you've gmed fishing and your ready to go hammer on some mibs! My first suggestion if you already have not done so is download the auto switching version of UOAutoMap so you can locate the area that the ship wreck is in.

Mibs have a chance to be a level 1-3 treasure mapchest. Each chest you pull up has a chance of dropping 1-3k gold and magic items such as weapons and armor, yes you can get a force/power/vanquishing weapon from a lvl 1-3 chest. Magic Jewelry/clothing, regeants, and magic wands.

Misc/Im new to the game/how come mibs are not dropping/boats/disclaimer:

  • DO NOT RUN THIS MACRO UNATTENDED OR YOU WILL BE BANNED!
  • When you are 100 fishing skill you have a chance to fish up a sea serpent that you must kill and loot the MIB off of.
  • You must be in deep water in order to gm fishing....14tiles away from land.
  • Do not leave your boat keys on your character otherwise if you lose both keys your boat is gone.
  • Stand in the middle of your boat while fishing so the mobs cannot melee you/attack you.
  • On this server you must have gm fishing in order to fish up the SoS.(will be edited if changed)

Boat Commands:

  • "(Direction*)" Move ship in desired direction.
  • "Drift left", "Left" Moves ship to the left.
  • "Drift right", "Right" Moves ship to the right.
  • "Drop anchor", "Raise anchor" Toggles ship movement on or off.
  • "Furl sail", "Stop" Stops current ship movement.
  • "One (direction*)", "(Direction*) one" Moves ship one tile in desired direction and stops.
  • "Set name xxxxx" Changes Ship's name, where "xxxxx"=name. (must have key)
  • "Remove Name" unnames the ship. (must have key)
  • "Slow (direction*)" Moves ship slowly in desired direction (see below for possible directions).
  • "Turn around","Come about" Turns ship around and proceeds.
  • "Turn left", "Port" Rotate ship left. Changes the orientation of the ship.
  • "Turn right", "Starboard" Rotate ship right. Changes the orientation of the ship.
  • "Unfurl sail", "Forward" Moves ship forward.
  • Directions: Forward left, forward right, backward left, backward right, back left, back right, backwards, backward, back.

Happy fishing my friends!

It's been so long since I've play T2A, I can't recall whether or not wild animals would despawn if they were herded into a house. Basically, if I'm a tailor, can I keep a few sheep in my house for shearing?

Not really in-game related however we were having some issues with the forum editor adding extra line breaks in posts (which I'm sure for anyone who noticed or likes to format their posts, this would have been rather annyoing). This has been resolved.

BASIC CHARACTER CREATION
From the character selection screen click ‘New’ to create your first UO Lost Lands character. Our shard allows 5 characters per account. Unlike most traditional MMO’s Ultima Online is not restricted by class, you have a great deal of flexibility when building your characters. The final character you build is defined by 700 skill-points and 225 attribute points (Str, Dex, Int). You may allocate these points however you like (up to a max of 100 points). Skills and stats can also be changed at any time, so don’t be afraid to experiment.

STR = health pool / increases weight limit
INT = mana pool (required for casting magical spells)
DEX = stamina pool / weapon speed

Choose a Trade for your Character
Choosing a trade  simply means you’ll be given some pre-allocated skill/attribute points to get you started, and as with any new character you’ll receive items based on the type of trade you’ve chosen e.g. a ’Warrior’ will start with 35 Swords, 50 Tactics, some bandages and a practice weapon. The Advanced option lets you create your own starting template, and enables you to allocate 80 attribute points to your character as well as divide 100 skill points into any three skills available in the game. Note, you will also be given starting equipment based on the skills you select for this character. Choosing advanced also lets you pick the town you start in (the most popular town is Britain).

WHAT NEXT?
That's the beauty of a sandbox MMORPG experience like Ultima Online, you are free to explore the game world on your own terms. The tasks you perform in game will reflect the skills and attributes that your character will raise. From here the world will be what you and other players make of it. Stake your claim in land by placing a small house, even own your own castle. Live the simple life as a crafter and set up a shop full of wares for other players to purchase. Play the villain as a murderer or thief. Play the character you want to be, for good or evil. Log in and start your adventure today!

POPULAR T2A CHARACTER TEMPLATES
Here are some examples of popular character templates

WARRIOR
The warrior in Ultima Online is a great beginners class. The warrior utilizes strength and speed in weapon attacks, while having great defense by using shields, armor and resisting spells. Warriors will heal themselves using bandages, which are inexpensive and very effective at healing. A warrior can resurrect other players with bandages as opposed to magery.

The pure warrior will want to utilize potions in battle, to cure themselves, refresh stamina or replenish a few hit points in dire situations. An advanced warrior can use magically charged defensive items to make themselves extremely formidable in PvP.
Attributes
100 STR |  100 DEX |  25 INT

Skills
Allocate 100 points in each of the following skills:
  • Swordsmanship or Mace Fighting or Fencing

  • Archery or Hiding

  • Anatomy

  • Tactics

  • Healing

  • Resisting Spells

  • Parrying

TANK MAGE
The tank mage is a glass cannon which can deal incredible amounts of damage in a short time. The tank mage is an absolute staple of the T2A era, many believing them to be overpowered - however many an advanced warrior have shown this not to be true. During the T2A era, hally mages utilize the slow swinging, yet high damaging halberd to get in extra hit points of damage alongside their spells. However, with little to nothing in the way of armored protection, the tank mage will need to utilize mobility to avoid taking large amounts of damage from fast-hitting warriors.

The tank mage is primarily a PvP template, and not very effective at killing monsters compared to bards and animal tamers. Even the warrior is arguably a better fighter, although the warrior has a very hard time dealing with some of the larger monsters. A tank mage can slay these monster types by utilizing 8th circle summons.
Attributes
100 STR | 25 DEX | 100 INT

Skills
Allocate 100 points in each of the following skills:
  • Swordsmanship

  • Wrestling

  • Tactics

  • Magery

  • Meditation

  • Evaluating Intelligence

  • Resisting Spells

THIEF
The life of a thief is largely a game of patience. Through careful timing, or cleverly planned scams, a thief can be the most fearful foe of them all. A thief has the ability to plunder a foolish or unwise person's entire fortune, through sneaking and stealing. Pure thieves can survive well in combat while emptying their opponent's pack of their necessary items, such as reagents, runes and even their weapons. The thief is not so strong in a 1v1 match-up so choose your fights wisely - be prepared to flee and hide if you find yourself being overwhelmed.

Not for the impatient. If you play a thief well, you will likely be hated and your name will be feared.
Attributes
100 STR | 100 DEX | 25 INT

Skills
Allocate 100 points in each of the following skills:
  • Stealing

  • Snooping

  • Swordsmanship or Mace Fighting or Fencing

  • Anatomy

  • Tactics

  • Healing

  • Hiding or Resisting Spells

CRAFTER
In Ultima Online, you can make a living entirely through crafting, without ever raising a blade. Players are always in need of player crafted equipment, and this is where you will come in.

The crafter, or merchant character class will create items that every UO player will always want. Weapons, armor, tools, clothes (and leather armor), bows and arrows, even furniture for houses. A crafter will likely want to set up a player run shop, selling their wares through their player run vendor. Location of your shop and keeping your vendor stocked with in-demand items, will be critical to your success. Ultima Online lives, whether you are logged in or not. Players will always want these items, and will go elsewhere if your vendor is not stocked or has unreasonable prices. Learn your market and thrive.

Popular crafting templates:
  1. Blacksmithy
  2. Bowcraft and Fletching
  3. Carpentry

TREASURE HUNTER
The treasure hunter utilizes cartography, lockpicking and provocation to create a character which can locate hidden treasure, dig it up, lockpick the chest and kill the chest guardians. The treasure hunter doubles as a character which can navigate dungeons, picking chests within to plunder the treasure contained. Obtaining a Grandmaster status in the art of lockpicking and cartography will be necessary to decode and find the most dangerous and profitable of all treasure hunts.

Attributes
100 STR | 25 DEX | 100 INT

Skills
Allocate 100 points in each of the following skills:
  • Magery
  • Meditation
  • Cartography
  • Lockpicking
  • Hiding or Resisting Spells or Evaluating Intelligence or Wrestling
  • Provocation
  • Musicianship

MAGE BARD
The goal of the mage bard is to make money. Fast, and easily. A mage bard will utilize provocation, combined with mage skills, to make the mage bard very tanky and able to deal high damage to monsters. The mage bard is most useful in any place where multiple, strong monsters spawn, in order to provoke these creatures onto each other and plunder the loot from their corpse. Magery combined with evaluating intelligence means the bard will be able to finish off monsters damaged from battle, with ease.

Attributes
100 STR | 25 DEX | 100 INT

Skills
Allocate 100 points in each of the following skills:
  • Evaluating Intelligence/Hiding

  • Magery

  • Meditation

  • Resisting Spells

  • Wrestling

  • Musicianship

  • Provocation

ANIMAL TAMER
The animal tamer is playing the long game. A slow skill to raise, animal taming is massively profitable around the Grandmaster level. The tamer can tame dragons, white wyrms and nightmares to do his or her bidding, and taking advantage of magery to gate their new pets around the world. A tamer can have as many pets as they wish, however having too many pets can be a burden when they crowd each other, or your pets begin to ignore your commands. Keep your pets well fed and you should have no issues!

Skills
Allocate 100 points in each of the following skills:
  • Animal Lore
