Is it possible to get more events through the space of each day?

Every now and then it seems that the events are really few and far between, and on the other hand, there are multiple events in the space of a very small time frame.

When looking at the 'Event Schedule' its clear what time you need to log in if you want some actions Tongue

This is Friday. WTF am i going to do that day?!!?

  Housing Outdoor Lock Down Exceptions

There is currently an exception that allows players to lock down a key ring above their house stairs. I'd love to have the ability to lock down light sources (torches & lanterns) & the holiday bells we received during the Christmas world event as well. Who doesn't love the idea of having a doorbell added to their home? Anyways, just a couple item types that I thought would be nice to have the option of installing. Mainly the lighting fixtures.

  • The BOD reward for masks has changed to be a mask dye tub with a random hue, based on the same hues available as sandal BOD rewards.
  • Priest and priestess titles now match with their gender.
  • Fixed a bug in the Christmas gift giving for coal.
  • Items that are not movable can no longer be secured.
  • It is no longer an option to craft items that do not retain the color of their resource.
  • Fixed an issue with axe/sword racks as a BOD reward that was causing them to decay.
  • Holiday bells are now usable by anyone when locked down in a house.
  • The range of which the owner must be of a pet to avoid large loyalty decay is now 24 (up from 18).

  Fishing Tournament

Hello UOLL!!  We will be hosting a fishing tournament over the weekend of January 20th that will run from midnight on the 20th through 7pm EST on Sunday January 22nd.  There will be no gathering at the start as in our last tournament, and players are expected to provide their own gear and boats!  I will direct you to the afk macroing policy here:  https://uolostlands.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1086  since boat fishing is considered a "resource gathering" activity.  Staff will be making rounds to ensure there is no cheating and abuse of this policy!  The winner will be selected by them presenting the heaviest fish with a date stamped during this tournament.  Pirates may be scouring the oceans looking to take your beloved fish so be on the lookout and take your heavy fish home when you catch them!  Not only will we be giving away a prize for the heaviest fish, but we will be giving away a prize for the heaviest bag that is full of BIG fish (gross weight).  Obviously this second prize will take a bit of time to validate, so if the fishermen will place their fish bags in their house (or bank box if homeless) we will award the prize after verification.  Please leave any intelligent questions here!

Well I was playing around in the demo and I noticed I started gaining some skill in Parry while holding a candle so I was like WTF MAN SO COOL and I did some research. Maybe this would be accurate here.

Candles, fishing poles, and torches check for parry skill (they do not give any AR).

Using magical clothing/armor of Protection raises parry skill 9.1. There is a bug that will give you different AR depending on what order you put on your shield and magic item of protection.

Parry started in UO alpha as ‘Battle Defense’ and determined how well you defended in combat. Some time before beta, this was changed to ‘parry’ for shield use. The fact that magic items of ‘protection’ raise parry skill (unlike the spell ‘protection’) is an artifact of the old ‘battle defense’ skill.

Sad I came as a simple crafter

Well I will be leaving Lost lands. Not that it will be noticed by anybody really but I thought I would mention my reasons for leaving.

So far I have met mostly friendly characters and the shard staff has been great. I do like the attitude and general outlook of the owners of the shard.

I came as a simple crafter with mining and lumberjacking in mind.
 
Today a character I think was Lord Lewis stopped buy the mine I was mining and PK'ed my defenseless miner.
I had no armor, no weapons just a few shovels and a tinker bag for making more shovels as needed. What I did find valuable was a portable forge. That was given to me by a GM on my first day here.

Of coarse all was stolen. The dishonorable act of a shameless coward such as Lord Lewis has left me with no interest in any further character building here.

This was not PVP. It is not in my skill set.
 I do however respect those that have the courage and skill to stand and face an opponent in battle.

This was not courage today.
 It was simply the act of a shameless cowered who is most likely proud of his accomplishment.
 He drove away one who intended to be, a versatile crafter here in Lost Lands. A crafter of armor and potions

  Evil Mage Towers

I noticed the last couple evil mage towers i did there was an invisible crate/small crate that looked like it should be within the cage but its not visible only if you Ctrl-Shift do you see the name.. i will try to get screen shots of all floors at the next one but that could be a bit since many people do them.

  UO Demo Herding Skill Behaviour

You use a shepherd's crook that is equipped, in your backpack, or even one on the ground.

"Target the animal you wish to herd."

You target an animal.

You fail and it says, "You don't seem to be able to persuade that to move." and that's it. No more targeting.

If you succeed it will say, "Click whom you wish the animal to follow, or where you wish it to go." and you keep the targeting cursor.

Stuff I Targeted on Successes

The animal itself and it read, "You don't seem to be able to persuade that to move."

My character. When I did this I'd get two things, "The animal begins to follow you." as a system message off to the left and I would also get "That being can not be tamed." overhead, which was cool.

I targeted the animal, succeeded, then targeted another animal to try and get it to follow it around but it would never work. I would always get "You don't seem to be able to persuade that to move." on the 2nd animal targeted.

Weird Stuff I Tried

I ran away from the animal with the "success targeting cursor" held and I targeted the ground near me to see if the animal would eventually come to that spot from several screens away. It never came.

I targeted it from as far away as possible (1 tile away from bar greying out) and it worked. It was far.

I tried herding it on to a non-static object that I just placed on the ground. The result was nothing but a lost "success targeting cursor".

I tried herding it on to static objects that you can not pass through like rocks, brambles and trees. I would get the "The animal walks where it was instructed to." message but the animal didn't even try to go there. It was cool though.

Basically if I targeted something silly that it could pass through like a water barrel or a log in the woods there was no result, but when I targeted something it could not pass through, there was a result but it just didn't walk to the location.
