"I have betimes been accused by ignorant city folk of "cutting down" trees for their wood. Even if such a thing were possible, it would be a disgraceful act. The function of the lumberjack is to harvest the bounty of the wood, not to destroy it. I gather useable wood from living trees (taking care always to do no harm)."

Lumberjacking

You must have a hatchet or axe equipped. Use the axe, then click on a tree. If successful, you will get 10 logs.

Chopping a tree will give you one of the following messages:

  • "You hack at the tree for awhile, but fail to produce any usable wood" – You failed your skill check, but can try again on the same tree.
  • "You put some logs into your backpack" – You have chopped 10 logs from the tree. You can continue trying to get wood from the same tree until you get the next listed message.
  • "You put some logs at your feet" – You have chopped 10 logs from the tree, but you're overloaded. You can continue trying to get wood from the same tree until you get the next listed message.
  • "There is not enough wood here to harvest" – Move on to another tree. Trees regenerate in around 20 to 30 minutes.

Wood is required by both people using Bowcraft and Fletching and Carpentry in order to craft items.

Training

Before training you will need to obtain a bulk amount axes.

  • 0.0 - 30.0: Train from NPC Carpenter
  • 30.1 - 100.0: Chop trees

Notes

Carpenter NPCs sell boards up to 999

An axe can be used to chop logs into boards which reduces weight in half by selecting the pile of logs

Lumberjacking does not give a damage bonus when using axes in conjunction with the Swordsmanship skill

Unattended macroing lumberjacking is illegal on this shard (as well as other resource gathering skills)
