"Hmm... Looks like traps are findin' you more than you're findin' the traps. Keep it up though, by the looks of your clothes these traps will be a rare find!"'

- Fiddling Tobin the Tinkerer

Removing Traps

This skill allows you to remove traps found on containers, as well as disarm other sorts of traps, such as ones found in dungeons. Different traps have different levels of difficulty.

When this skill is used it will bring up a targeting cursor. Then target the trap to be disarmed. Of course, you need to be able to see the trap to disarm it.

If you are successful in your attempt, the trap is disarmed and you can then attempt to pick the lock of the container. If, however, your fingers slip and you fail to disarm the trap, there is a chance it may be set off. Traps that are set off often reset themselves, requiring another Remove Trap attempt.

This skill is quite risky and you would be wise to practice it with caution. Wearing gloves can hinder your ability to disarm traps, as the delicate inner works of certain traps require a fine touch.

Remove Trap does not reveal your character when hidden.

Training

  • 0 - 30.0: Train from Thief NPC
  • 30.0 46.0: Trapped chests located in cities
  • 46.1 - 80.0: Boxes with a Dart Trap or Poison Trap crafted by a tinker with 50.0 Tinkering skill
  • 80.1 - 98.0: Boxes with an Explosion Trap crafted by a tinker with 80.0 Tinkering skill
  • 98.1 - 100.0: Trapped level 4 dungeon chests.

While it is possible to GM from explosion traps crafted by a tinker, you may get more skill gains from level 4 chests located in dungeons.

Notes

You cannot learn or use this skill until you have at least 50 base skill of Detecting Hidden and Lockpicking, as a result of this you cannot select it as a starting skill

It is not recommended to wear gloves when removing traps It is best to train Remove Trap on a character with Tinkering so you can easily re-trap boxes you disarm
