Patch 22 - 02/28/15 - Crafting menus, (more) Event Time Changes, Remote Help System
#1
Remote Help System
  • Created a system to handle in-game pages via IRC. This will make it much easier for me to be alerted and stay on top of in-game pages, when I am not available to log into the game.

Crafting Menus

All T2A craft menus are now available.
  • When a player first uses the craft system after this patch, they will be prompted with a question asking which type of menu they'd like to use (T2A or UO:R). This will be saved permanently for the character. It is per character.
    • You can swap menu types at any time with the [craftmenu command
    • When using the T2A menus, use the commend [MakersMark to toggle the maker's mark options.

  • There are some crafting differences that will apply toall players.
    • Cartography & Inscription are now triggered from the skill menu instead of using a pen. Pens will not be deleted, but cease to function how they did. The pens are now unobtainable.
    • Cartography can no longer use scrolls to create maps.
    • Bowcraft/Fletching is now triggered by using a bladed weapon on wood (such as a dagger or katana). Polearms will not work for this. Fletching tools will cease to function and are now non-obtainable.
    • Arrows/Bolts can now be crafted by double clicking on the feathers/shafts and targeting the other relevant material.

  • Please report any bugs you may notice with either menu type.

Events
  • The events targeted at our US players have been shifted back to 10pm. Hopefully this will be the final shift!
  • Some additions to the event schedule. On days where "early events" run for our EU players, an event will also run in the evening for US players.
    • A 1v1 tournament with the rules: Non-Free Use, Potions Allowed, Poisons Allowed, Magics Disallowed, will run on Tuesdays at 10pm.
    • A 1v1 magics tournament (non-free use), will run at 10pm on Saturdays.
    • A 2v2 tournament will run immediately after the Friday tournament (starting at 10pm).

  • A bug has been fixed with tournaments "deleting" player loot under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug where the winner of a tournament did not get their mount back, since they never lost a match.
  • Fixed a bug with the IRC bot incorrectly reporting some event times.
  • The Tournament Master (Milt), will now tell players to sign up if they are not already, as it wasn't very obvious how to sign up before.

Public Moongate/Bandages
  • Bandages cut one at a time again.
  • The moongate is back to a T2A styled moongate. Cycle times are much faster so you should get to your desired location much quicker.

Misc
  • Armorers now buy/sell all types of armor.
  • There are now bridges to the south west of Trinsic, for players to cross the streams there.
  • The IRC bot will no longer trigger its spam detection code unless a command it will actually respond to is triggered.

in cartography, how do you select a map to draw on. im not getting any targeting cursor.

also, in the old days, you could draw on purchased maps. without scrolls to draw on, cartography cannot be raised. nobody in the world sells enough blank maps.

also, why do all 4 map types in cartography say the same success chance?

ok with uo:r menu, there is no targeting cursor for cartography to select a map to draw on.

with the t2a menu, you get the cursor, but cannot write over the purchased city maps. being able to write on the purchased maps was a feature in t2a. it was changed to blank scrolls at uo:r

one or the other jack, please. otherwise you will have completely nerfed treasure hunting.

They have always been the same success chance since the shard went live. Cartography maps were not difficulty based in T2A - it does not matter which map you make.

There's actually one piece of the puzzle missing for Carto that will make it slightly easier - vendors should restock blank maps when you sell pre-drawn (vendor bought city maps, etc), or player-drawn maps. (1 blank map for every non-blank map sold)

In order to GM cartography you'll need to purchase blank maps in bulk. The vendors sell them with the same rules as reagents - their stock doubles every hour as long as more than half their stock is purchased.

I realise this makes cartography a lot more difficult since you can not write on scrolls anymore, but cartography was never intended to be an easy skill to raise.

being able to get more maps by sellingthem works. HOWEVER, they are not stackable

you cannot run the map vendor up to 999

if you could make the blank maps stackable, you would have it all. selling to gain more blanks is good.

If I can make a suggestion, you could macro cartography and not even have to worry about buying maps in the first place. The only pre-requisite would be that the mapmaker has enough maps to begin with that it would always "break even" on buying/selling by the end of the hour.

For example, create a macro which buys blank maps, crafts them into drawn maps, then sells them back. You can do this with the buy/sell agents.

Cartography takes 10 seconds per map, so that's 360 maps an hour. So if the vendor is carrying at least 360 maps, then the macro will run forever assuming noone else goes to the mapmaker and buys it out. If somebody does, your macro will get delayed until the next hour has passed.

It would take 4 hours to buy the vendor up to a stock of 360.

I actually wrote a guide for this in 2010:https://uolostlands.com/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/296/cartography-macro

moongate changes seem good

was it intended that treasure maps can only be viewed now by the one who decoded it?
