To answer your questions, spellbooks are blessed here. Runebooks are a regular loot type item, they will drop to your corpse on death whether you are blue or red. Runebooks however, can not bedirectly stolen.They are stealable only if they are in a sub pack (steal the sub pack), or via a random target (target a player, hope you randomly select the runebook). Thus, if a runebook is inside a sub-pack which weighs more than 10 stones, they cannot be stolen at all.

They can not be targeted to steal. They are 0 stones, so would be an unnoticed steal every time unless there was a "special exception" for them. Consider it a trade off for non-blessed runebooks.
