This is how it works.  Three tables stacked on top of each other than a book on top then place keyring with key on top of that and lock it down.  Then remove the the other items and the keyring will magically float above your steps and you can use it.

Doing it this way will allow stealthers to see the goods in your house. You can also open those two front doors, stack the three tables in the arch and lock the keys down there. The house owner will need to hold down control shift to be able to double click these keys to get in your house, however - or you can toggle on your circle of transparency to see them.
