We are moving from IRC to Discord

On top of probably being more stable than the current IRC server we have, Discord has a lot of great features, a clean web interface and supports voice chat among other things.

Using Discord means we can wrap our IRC server and Ventrilo into one, at no cost to the shard. It will save money on our hosting costs.
