Thanks, what about bandages and cut cloth weight seems off a bit, don't remember them weighing one stone each.

Bandages are one stone each - there are various sources to confirm this, such as Stratics and the official patch notes and the demo.

There are some changes to the raw materials of tailoring that go along with their new stackable nature:

  • A bolt of cloth will be 50 yards of cloth, cost around 50gp, and weigh 5 stones.
  • Folded cloth, cut cloth, etc, will now be one yard, cost around 1gp, and weigh 1/10th of a stone.
  • Both are stackable.
  • When tailoring on a bolt, any remaining yardage will be changed into a stack of folded cloth yards. An example: Tailor Joe makes a shirt that requires 8 cloth from a stack of 5 bolts. It will deduct the 8 from the 50 yards from one bolt. That remaining 42 yard will then be converted into cut cloth (ie. a stack of 42 yards of cut cloth). That will leave tailor Joe with 4 full bolts and a stack of cloth (42 yards).
  • thus 10 bandages=1 stone

Interesting.

The demo timeframe is July 1998 and bandages do weigh 1 stone there. A much later patch note (in UO:R) makes light of the fact that the cloth:bandage weight has been fixed. At that point, it seems like bandages weighing 1 stone each was a bug rather than intended feature and would be silly to keep.

I will change cloth/bandages to be 0.1 stones with the next patch (some time this weekend). This means cloth keeps a consistent weight ratio from Bolt -> Yards -> Bandages
