How do get all pets on one tile

I'm told you can gate them all to the bow of a ship if you have them all on follow after you put them in the stable. Is this the only way to? What about a tile in the corner of a house? Also, do they have to be on one tile when you actually put them in the stable, how do you do that?

Hey ramjet, when you go through a gate, they all will go through with you and end up on the same tile. to put them on a boat what I do is gate from the boat to the stable, say claim, all guard me, then go back through the gate. they will all be stacked on the same tile.
