Packhorses at Minoc - Lost and found

Hello,
I've never played Ultima Online until 48 hours ago. I've been doing my best to learn the most efficent way to train etc.
I bought a pack horse for my characters and I guess you can't log out with them and expect them to still be around when you get back!Thankfully, it looks like they weren't stolen by the time I realized my mistake. However, their inventory completely vanished. So I guess someone was kind enough to just take my items and leave me my horses. Which I greatly appreciate. But now I'm missing a lot of the bars I spent 4 or 5 hours making.
To the lucky guy who found them, any way I could get them back?

Hey man glad to have you one the server!
As far as the horses go like any animal under your control you must stable the animal if you are not going to be in range of it for a long time otherwise it will go untamed and wonder away.
If you are going to continue using the pack horse I would smelt the ore into ingots like you have been doing and when you are about to log out put the ingots in your bank box and stable the animal and log out.

I did not take the ingots but I have around 2k I could give you because I know how much of a set back that is to you.
Pretty sure i've spoken to you on numerous occasions, for a fresh player this game can be a decent learning curve.

Sorry I missed your message on IRC, King. I'm from the Southern Hemisphere, so my hours can be a bit off compared to a lot of our playerbase. Creager is right, you need to stable your pack horse, or it will just stay in the world without you and go untame. On top of that, it is a good idea to put any valuables in the bank in case anyone decides to try and murder/rob you and your pack horse. Only carry that which you are comfortable to lose.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll start putting my lovely horses in the stable from now on. Creager- i'm all good on gold and stuff thank you though. I wikied it and it looks like my items just decayed over the night. Lots of learning experiences. For example, I'm definitely avoiding the north mines of minoc for a long time. Love the community here.
